Inspired by Natuzzi’s Leggero collection, we wanted to design a similar non-expandable dining table for a private residence in New Delhi. Set against Alke Reeh’s installation, the black colour subdues the size of the Dining Table.
Orproject wanted to play with the perspective of thickness whilst ensuring that the 32 sq.ft. doesn’t bend. Sandwiched between layers of veneer, we injected an MS frame structure holding all the tapered wooden legs together. The internal gap gets filled by 19mm thk. plyboard from the top and 6mm thk. plyboard from bottom holding the veneer sheets. The 5mm groove designed throughout the horizontal wooden section plays as a transition between textures of black polished vertical wooden supports and thin decorative covering of finely polished wood on the top.
